Importing your hotkeys

If you have played another Ultima Online client on this PC, you do not have to rebuild your macros by hand. Lyonspyre can read them and bring them across.

Running it

The first time you log in, if Lyonspyre finds another client on your PC, it offers to import. You can say no, and you can tick Do not ask again so it never asks a second time.

You can also run it whenever you like from Options and then Import hotkeys from another client.

It takes effect immediately. There is no need to log out, and no need to restart the client.

What you choose

Which character. The panel lists every character it found, with how many macros each one has. Pick the one whose setup you want.

What happens to the macros you already have. If the character you are playing already has macros, you get two options:

Option What it does
Replace mine Your current set steps aside and the imported set takes over.
Keep mine where they clash Your macro wins on any key you already use, and on any name you already have. The rest are added.

Either way your current set is saved first, and there is an Undo button on the summary that puts it back exactly as it was.

What comes across

Your keys and key combinations come across as they are. That is the part that takes longest to rebuild, and it is preserved exactly: the same key, the same Alt, Ctrl and Shift, the same mouse buttons.

Most actions come across too. Speech, spells, skills, potions, targeting, war mode, and the rest all mean the same thing here as they do elsewhere.

Some do not, and that is expected. Lyonspyre has actions no other client has, and other clients have actions Lyonspyre does not. Anything with no Lyonspyre equivalent is left empty rather than guessed at. The key stays bound, so you will see the empty slot in Options and can put whatever you want on it.

The summary

When the import finishes you get a report, grouped four ways. Every row names the key first, because that is what you recognise.

Section Meaning
Mapped Came across and works the same. Collapsed by default, since this is most of them.
Changed Came across, but behaves differently here. Worth a read.
Blanked No Lyonspyre equivalent. The key is still yours, the action is empty.
Refused Not imported at all, with the reason.

What it will never do

  • It will never leave you with fewer macros than you started with. If the file turns out to be empty or unreadable, the import stops and changes nothing.
  • It will never shorten a macro. If one step of a four step macro has no equivalent here, you still get four steps with one of them empty, rather than a three step macro on the same key doing something you did not intend.
  • It will never bring across an account name, a password, or a server address.

Things it cannot bring

Some things are tied to the other world rather than to your keyboard, so there is nothing to carry over:

  • Window positions and sizes
  • Map markers, which are coordinates on a different map
  • Friend lists and container settings, which point at specific items there
  • Anything Lyonspyre-only that has no counterpart, such as the talent bar and the ship bar

Bind those here once and they are yours.
