Arcanum¶

Pure arcane attunement. Hits harder, crits sharper, and now and then hands back the mana you just burned.

Passive - spell damage¶

Every active level adds a flat point to your spell-damage multiplier. The catch: it's PvM-only. Cast at another player and the bonus simply doesn't apply.

The multiplier applies after every other PvM spell-damage adjustment, so it scales the number Magic Arrow, Flame Strike, and the rest would already deal.

Passive - mana refund¶

Each cast gets a chance to come back free - the whole mana cost, refunded.

Roll under the threshold and the entire cost is returned. It stacks additively with whatever refund chance your skill and spellbook already give you.

Passive - spell crit¶

Arcanum carries a per-level spell-crit chance.

A crit doubles the spell's damage after the spell-damage multiplier applies, marked by a violet flare on the target. PvM-only, like every Arcanum passive.

Set bonuses¶

4	Surge of Insight	When a mana refund procs, your next damaging spell within 20 seconds deals +25% damage.
6	Spell Echo	Damaging spells have a 10% chance to echo, repeating 30% of their damage a moment later.

A slot counts toward the set when it is assigned to Arcanum and has reached level 1. Gear does not need to be equipped. See Set bonuses for the shared rules. The pieces feed each other: refund procs scale with level, and every refund can arm a Surge, so deep Arcanum investment powers its own set.

Ultimate - Arcane Cascade¶

Slot Arcanum into your Weapon and land a melee hit, and the Ultimate can proc.

Visual - a violet energy ring bursts on the target, with a head-layer aura on the attacker for the 15-second buff window.
Sound - an energy-bolt cue.
Flourish - restores 30 + 3·L mana to the attacker on proc.

Weapon-swing Ultimate on a mage

The proc fires on a weapon hit landed, never on a spell cast. So even an Arcanum mage has to swing a weapon and connect to trigger Arcane Cascade. That holds for every affinity Ultimate - see Ultimates for the shared mechanics.
