Emotes & the Emote Wheel¶
Lyonspyre ships 34 voiced emotes — each plays a male/female voice clip and floats its text above your head (e.g. *pukes*), broadcast to everyone within 18 tiles. You can fire an emote two ways: type its command, or pop the Emote Wheel and click it.
During the current playtest
Every emote is temporarily unlocked for all players, with cooldowns off, so you can try the whole set freely while testing. This is a testing convenience and will be turned off at launch — at that point emotes unlock through the AP Store and the normal cooldowns apply (below).
Playing an emote by command¶
Type [<name> in chat, e.g. [cheer, [puke, [sigh. A few emotes carry a trailing "s" for historical reasons, but the bare form works too — [sigh plays the same emote as [sighs.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Range | Text, sound and animation all reach 18 tiles. |
| Cooldown | A 3-second global cooldown plus a per-emote cooldown (stops chat-spam). |
| Where you must be | Alive and not hidden — emoting would reveal you anyway, so it's gated. |
Unlocking (at launch): emotes are collected from the Random Emote Deed in the AP Store ([store buy emote.deed). Unlocks are account-bound — an emote you own is available to every character on your account.
The Emote Wheel¶
A pop-up radial picker that appears at your cursor when you tap its open key. It's a true pie:
- Each emote owns a wedge. The wedge under your cursor lights gold, and its label brightens.
- Click anywhere in a wedge to play that emote — you don't have to hit a tiny label.
- The dark center hub, clicking off the wheel, or right-click cancels without emoting.
- The wheel resizes to however many emotes you've put on it.
- It starts empty until you configure it, so you only ever see the emotes you picked — never a row of emotes you can't use.
Setting it up — Options ▸ Emote Wheel¶
Open Options and click "Emote Wheel" in the left-hand list (just below Cooldown Bars). Everything for the wheel lives on this one screen:
- Set your open key. Click the key box and press the key (with optional Ctrl/Shift/Alt). This is the key you tap in-game to pop the wheel.
- Tick the emotes you want on the wheel — up to 16.
- Click Save.
Your wheel order follows the order things were already on the wheel, then any newly-ticked emotes in list order. Your key binding and emote choices are saved per character and survive logout.
Using it in-game¶
- Bind a key and pick your emotes (above).
- Tap the key — the wheel pops at your cursor.
- Move toward a wedge — it highlights gold.
- Click anywhere in that wedge to play the emote (or click the center / off the wheel to cancel).
