When chained refining arrives, refined metal, wood, and leather stop converting 1 to 1. Left alone, that would make the best gear absurdly expensive. This page shows the raw cost with no adjustment, and the adjustment we have decided on.
Decided 7.22.26 · playtest values, open to tuning with your feedbackOne refined bar of a tier costs 2 raw ore of that tier plus 1 refined bar of the tier below. Built from scratch, that means 2 raws of every rung on the way up:
Raw ore per refined bar, built from the bottom of the ladder. The same chain applies to boards and leather. Quality never applies to materials, only to finished items.
When you craft with a Sun, Wyrm, or Lyonspire material, the recipe's refined-material amount is scaled down. Iron through Verm, the whole leveling game, is untouched.
Only tiered refined materials (ingots, boards, leather) scale. Cloth, gems, and special ingredients never change. The discount keys off the material you select, so it covers every recipe in the game automatically.
Total raw ore when every refined bar is built from scratch. Hover a bar for the refined-bar count and the Lyonspireite share.
The hard part of a top-tier craft is the top-rung ore itself. For the plate chest: 25 Lyonspireite today, 50 with no adjustment, 16 with the re-band. The rest of the cost shifts into the lower rungs, which is deliberate: every tier of ore, wood, and hide stays worth gathering, and low-tier refined bars become real trade goods.
